The Asthma Foundation of Tasmania is a not-for-profit organisation committed to raising awareness and providing access to training opportunities in order to:
- assist children who suffer from asthma and anaphylaxis to more safely attend school;
- enable teachers and schools to be better-equipped to manage the risks associated with asthma and anaphylaxis in children.
The Asthma Foundation of Tasmania does not purport to provide substantive medical training in asthma or anaphylaxis. The Asthma Foundation of Tasmania does not purport to provide participants with competency in any medical procedure in the Asthma Active accreditation process.
Staff deemed “competent” in Emergency Asthma Management 21886VIC and/or Anaphylaxis Awareness 21827VIC in the Anaphylaxis Active accreditation process are given general advice on asthma and/or anaphylaxis and the administration of appropriate first aid for those conditions.
Schools and school staff members should seek their own medical and legal advice if they have any concerns about administering the procedures or treatment covered in the training delivered by the Asthma Foundation of Tasmania.
